The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. This device enables people of all ages to explore computing, and to learn how to program in languages like Scratch and Python.
During this 5-week course, students will explore the capabilities and functions of this device, and learn how to use it to create simple computer projects. The course is split up into the following topics:
- Types of Raspberry Pis
- How to choose the right Pi for your projects
- A closer look at the Pi 3 and Pi 4
- OS and bootloaders
- Preparing your Pi
- Setting up Raspbian, VNC & SSH into your Pi
- Terminal commands
- Using the GPI
- Simple projects
- Examples of compatible Pi hats to enhance your projects
- Simple Python projects
