This two-hour theory course will cover wood identification for a few wood species that are commonly used by woodworkers. Specifically, it will:

  • help you tell the difference between softwood and hardwood species
  • help you identify species appropriate for specific projects
  • help you to understand the properties of wood and how lumber is produced
  • provide recommended sources for both common and exotic species
  • identify common mistakes in wood selection
  • identify common problems experienced by woodworkers

Various wood samples and projects will be displayed.
