Woodshop 101 Orientation and Safety Training ~ Free for 55+!

  • Familiarize you with the Wood Shop and its resources
  • Introduce you to the machines and power tools you are most likely to use
  • Demonstrate how to use those machines and power tools safely
  • Give you hands-on experience in operating those machines and power tools safely
  • Show location of E STOP, first aid kit, eye wash station, fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • Is required in order to obtain access to the Industrial Room equipment and to do future woodworking workshops
This workshop, led by Steve Henshall, will be offered free to seniors aged 55+ as part of our Federally funded seniors' workshop series running throughout 2021 at the Innovation Centre and Shuswap Makerspace in downtown Salmon Arm (the big colourful building).

The fee is $150 for those under 55 years of age.

Wednesday, August 18 from 9:00am - 2:30pm at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (downstairs) 220 Shuswap St. NE (The big colourful building downtown).

You will make a Charcuterie Board as part of the class. A "how wood behaves" session on the technical side of wood is also included.

NOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes and tie long hair back. Please bring a lunch, water bottle and a notepad and pen.
