Woodshop 101 Orientation and Safety Training ~ 

  • Familiarize yourself with the Wood Shop and its resources
  • Introduce yourself to the machines and power tools that you are most likely to use
  • Demonstrate how to use those machines and power tools safely
  • Get hands-on experience in operating the machines and power tools safely
  • Shown the location of the E STOP, first aid kit, eye wash station, fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • This course is required in order to obtain access to the Industrial Room equipment and to do future woodworking workshops
  • This workshop is led by retired cabinet maker and wood craftsperson, Ed Campbell.

    Monday, November 8 from 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (downstairs) 220 Shuswap St. NE (The big colourful building downtown). The cost is $150.

    You will make a small step stool as part of the class and the wood is included in the cost.

    NOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes. Long hair must be tied up. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.
