Wood Lathe 101 Certification Turn a BeAUTIFUL BOWL!

~ The lathe is a classic wood shop tool; however, it takes a little more learning and practice to master than some other woodworking tools. Once you're comfortable on the lathe, it can be quite a relaxing tool to use. In this class, you will learn how to safely operate the lathe, in turn, helping you create your own small bowl. This will teach you the basics of chisel handling and chuck usage. A bowl blank will be provided and included in the cost!

~ Once certified, you can do a drop-in to use the tools ($10), or get a membership!

*We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes. Long hair must be tied up; sweaters and shirts with long sleeves are not permitted. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be provided*

Instructor: Wood expert, Dave Peel, is a retired shop teacher with over 50 years of teaching and woodworking experience with a love for teaching and passing his knowledge on. It will be offered for the subsidized price of $57.50 to seniors aged 55+ as part of our Federally funded seniors' workshop series running throughout 2022.

The fee is $115 for those 16 - 54 years of age.

Tuesday, April 12 from 1pm - 4pm at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (downstairs) 220 Shuswap St. NE. The cost includes a AA Maple bowl blank.

Register soon as space is limited to 2 people!
