Woodshop 101          Orientation and Safety Training

~ Make a Bath Caddy and get certified to build things!

• Familiarize yourself with the Wood Shop and its resources
• Introduce yourself to the machines and power tools that you are most likely to use
• Demonstrate how to use those machines and power tools safely
• Get hands-on experience in operating the machines and power tools safely
• Shown the location of the E STOP, first aid kit, eye wash station, fire extinguisher and emergency exits
• This course is required in order to obtain access to the Industrial Room equipment and to do future woodworking workshops and use the space going forward. 
• Monthly, annual and drop-in membership rates available.
• This workshop is led by retired cabinet maker and wood science teacher Steve Henshall.

  The fee is $150 plus GST for ages 16 and up.

  ***Register soon as space is limited to 3 people!*** Minimum 2 people to run the course

  You will make a beautiful 36" wide bath caddy with a wine glass holder as the class project. 

  NOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes. Long hair must be tied up. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.

• Saturday, August 13 from 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (downstairs) 220 Shuswap St. NE (The big colourful building downtown).
