~ The lathe is a classic wood shop tool; however, it takes a little more learning and practice to master than some other woodworking tools. Once you're comfortable on the lathe, it can be quite a relaxing tool to use. In this class, you will learn how to safely operate the lathe, in turn, helping you create your own small bowl. This will teach you the basics of chisel handling and chuck usage. A bowl blank will be provided and included in the cost!
~ Once certified, you can do a drop-in to use the tools ($10), or get a membership!
Instructor: Wood expert, Dave Peel, is a retired shop teacher with over 50 years of teaching and woodworking experience with a love for teaching and passing his knowledge on.
The fee is $120 for ages 16 and up.
Friday, May 19 from 9am - 12pm at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (basement) 220 Shuswap St. NE. The cost includes a AA Maple bowl blank.
