WOODSHOP 101  ORIENTATION AND   SAFETY TRAINING 



  • Familiarize yourself with the Wood Shop and its resources.
  • Introduce yourself to the machines and power tools that you are most likely to use.
  • Demonstrate how to use those machines and power tools safely.
  • Get hands-on experience in operating the machines and power tools safely.
  • Learn safety rules including, E STOP, first aid kit, eye wash station, fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
This workshop is led by retired cabinet maker and wood craftsperson, Ed Campbell.

This course is required in order to obtain access to the Industrial Room equipment and to do future woodworking workshops.

You will make a small step stool as part of the class and the wood is included in the cost.

NOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes. Long hair must be tied up. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.


Sunday February 25th, from 9am-4pm ( 1 hour lunch break),  at the Shuswap Makerspace in the Innovation Centre (basement) 220 Shuswap St. NE. The cost is $160. 

***Register soon as space is limited to 3 people!*** Minimum 2 people to run the course
