  Woodshop 101 - Build A Step Stool

  • Familiarize yourself with the Wood Shop and its resources.
  • Introduce yourself to the machines and power tools that you are most likely to use.
  • Demonstrate how to use those machines and power tools safely.
  • Get hands-on experience in operating the machines and power tools safely.
  • Learn safety rules including, E STOP, first aid kit, eye wash station, fire extinguisher and emergency exits.

  This workshop is led by retired cabinet maker and wood craftsperson, Ed Campbell.

  You will make a small step stool as part of the class and the wood is included in the cost.

  Upon Completion of this class you will then be able to utilize the woodshop for your own projects on a membership or drop in basis!

  Open to everyone 16 years and older

  NOTE: We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes. Long hair must be tied up. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.

  LASER CUTTER 101 COURSE - 2 Part Series

  Here's your chance to learn more about this exciting piece of machinery at the Shuswap Makerspace! Come and get certified to use our 100-Watt HL 1060 Laser Cutting / Engraving machine, and learn all the capabilities of this amazing tool. What are you going to create?!

  
  

  Session 1 - 6 hours with an hour break for lunch

  -In this class, you will learn the basics of the machine, safe operation, and designing for the laser. Knowledge with Windows is required, and there is software that can be downloaded on your personal computer to prepare your files for the laser. You will learn how to design and then use the laser cutter to cut out the project of instructors choice.

  Session 2 - 2 hours

  -In this second session you will use the laser to print out a project that you have designed for yourself.

  
  

  This is a certification class, so once complete, you can create your own projects and use the space on a drop-in, monthly, or annual membership basis!

  Sunday April 27th 9am-3pm and Tuesday April 29th 6pm-8pm

  Shuswap Makerspace is having a REPAIR CAFE on Saturday, May 10th from 10am - 3pm. 

  • Bring your broken small appliances, lamps, vacuums, small wooden items, and even clothing/textiles!
  • Registration not required
  • Don't all come at 10am or you'll be waiting
  • All by donation
  • Let's keep things out of the landfill!
